Definitions:
Coach - Every team needs a head coach that is above the age of 21. The head coach's responsibility is to lead the team in all facets including registration and chaperoning during the tournament. Additional coaches (age 18+) may sign up under the head coach.
Competitor - A competitor is any high school (or 8th grade) student that registers to compete.
Team - Each individual high school is its own team. Teams can have minimum 1 competitor and 1 coach. If your school does not have many interested competitors, but you are still interested in competing, please contact stl@getmistified.com.
Guest - Anyone outside of high school that wants to attend MIST but is not registered as a coach.
In order to attend MIST, you must be registered as one of the roles above or as a volunteer, judge, speaker or organizer.
Process to make a team:
Step 1: Head Coach
Every team needs a head coach! If you're interested in becoming a head coach to lead a team, please contact stl@getmistified.com. If you're a competitor interested in starting a team and lacking a head coach, please contact stl@getmistified.com
Step 2: Gather competitors
Once a coach is found, the next step is to gather students interested in competing. We suggest contacting stl@getmistified.com to set up an info session at your school/masjid/community center. Info sessions are presentations led by the Regional Director or other organizers from the MIST Saint Louis Board in order to explain all of the details about MIST.
Step 3: Preregistration
If registration has not begun, the next step is to get all of the competitors and coaches pre registered. Pre registration helps organizers and coaches get a better understanding of which students are interested in competing as well as what competitions they are interested in.
Step 4: Meetings and practices
Though this step is optional, we highly recommend holding practices and meetings to get your team prepared!
Step 5: Registration
The final step is to officially register all guests, coaches and competitors as well as finalize payments. Full registration details will be available at miststl.com/registration
Step 6: Attend MIST!
Though this process may seem daunting, once head coaches are established, they will regularly receive updated information on how to proceed. For any questions, please contact stl@getmistified.com
